The Girl You Loved Once

29 Jan

For every time somebody has told you they liked you, wanted to be with you, without actually knowing you. This came out of a time when someone decided they liked me after about a week of knowing me. I told him, you don’t even know me. I am flattered by your compliment but you don’t know who I am. I am a complex person with lots of layers and when the going gets tough, I doubt you’d be there. My honesty has never been very complimentary. But, this is for those times.

I’m the girl who has brought to love you.
Showing you it exists in a mosaic of forms.
I’m the girl put in your life to show you, you’re wonderful.
Making you enlightened of another way.
I’m the girl who changes your life.
Taking your hand and guiding you through,
Challenging your thoughts and deliberation.
Reminding you to follow your dreams
To continue the unwritten path… of you.
I’m the girl helping you speak your darker depths.
Neutralizing the burn of life with cream.
Listening to things you’ve never admitted before
Appreciating the soul you bared, so earthly.
Keeping it secret and holding it true.
Opening up another door.
I will help you heal.
I will drink your cup and then fill it again,
Pushing you until you break and building you back up.
I will know you and love you for whom you are, B
e that angry, sad, outspoken, shy, etc.
I’m the girl you’ll care about immensely despite wanting to.
That sugar coated candy that fattens you up.
The scent you can’t get enough of.
I’m the girl that’s real with you,
Let you know when you’re an ass,
Giving you honest feedback, coarse and raw.
Helping you sprout and bloom into a better man.
I’m the girl you may never stop loving.
I’m the girl who will leave a wound.
When I’m gone I’ll be the wind.
Thinking that I’m was real and true.
Knowing that whatever was had, was love.
And with a remembrance of me, you’ll smile.
Reminiscing on memories that fulfill
On phases and stages that help to build.
Knowing you gained three steps and fell back one.
Glad to have loved and learned and
With nothing else, know you grew
And know, that I’m just not the girl for you.
