My femininity is mine own. I can pick and choose to lay where I want, to lay with whomever I want whenever I want. It is me that bears the seeds and consequences of what I choose, from what I sought. And as sexes try to manipulate and prod to get what they want, I will surely refuse. It isn’t what I have that should make me desirable but what is in my heart, the soul bared in front of you. It isn’t how I use my body that should make me wanted but how I use my intellect. It isn’t what you envision my mouth to do that you should hope to have but the words in which I speak. Because all those shallow callous things, they isn’t me. I am a womyn. AND…A womyn must respect herself above all else. It is the respect she has for her that can reflect the respect she receives in return. She should never settle. She should never exploit. Yet we are all meant to make these mistakes. I am a womyn. My femininity speaks much about humanity for it is usually a womyn that consoles, a womyn that listens, and a womyn that births a new soul. My femininity is a power. One built up for many generations and years, it is in remembrance of those who still fight for a voice, it is in pride of those who stand strong, those who’ve been wronged, it is endured for those who have and have not survived, those who have stood up to a man and got a fist to there face before they died. It should lead… by example. It should stand to be seen as equals among those of all humanity, and continue to hold fists high. It should stand to ALWAYS have a voice and even more HEAR the oppressed voices. It should be used as an arm to help your sisters up, to be a crutch, to see similarities despite differences and provide opportunity to better everyone. It should stand for solidarity in with all minorities because the hierarchy has never served us. It must remember the fight it took for my rights, it will remember the ancestors that had been the leaders of their villages, the aids to making decisions, and the bearer of all the children. It will remember the role of the woman of my society and demand that it be seen. It will hallelujah for the progress for womyn everywhere, the progress for womyn of color in positions of power. Because for generations still in their own tears they have showered, for they are still often forgotten. And as a womyn, I stand for justice for ALL womyn and not just those seen at the forefront, white. Those stereotyped as the feminist who stand and speak for our female rights, because achieving theirs is a simple task, but to delve deeper and defeat racism that keeps our womyn of color hiding behind masks, we must learn to empower, to troubleshoot, sacrifice big, and think outside of the box. We must empower ALL womyn. For I, am a womyn, and my humanity is tied to yours, and my bare battered ruins connect us with invisible barriers and chains, knowing that my starting point is different the some other ladies, yet my aching body still leans in forward movement for change.
