I saw a stranger.
She shone like faith
Her glass opaque
Yet she gleamed with hope
Eyes that spoke wisdom
Walk of confidence
Determination of a child
Her hair was tangled
Face was scarred
Tattoos of pain revealed
She
had
been
worn
& trampled
Yet her head was held high
She gave and gave
Until she burned
She loved with open arms
Her freckled skin wrinkled with wear
Years
of
hard
labor
Her smile was like the first day of spring
refreshing and gleaming
A smile indicating a beautiful day
Where you look up
Feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
It was hers.
I saw a stranger.
She looked at me
& I cried.
